  • Oh but they're £125-£140.

  • aren't they tapered as well?

  • They indeed appear to be tapered.

  • Don't look tapered in the pic, or in the spec

    Steerer: Carbon. 1 1/8”. 330mm Wheel: 700c Rake: 45
    Weight: 480g Crown Height: 405mm

    Price: £139.99

  • I guess I was thinking about the disc version then.
    @doppelkorn, I meant tapered steerer.

  • Ah I thought you meant tapered blade

  • looking to get rid of my pompino. would 300 be achievable? Have asked in the xyz thread but no response. Thought this would be the best source of knowledge on the subject. apologies if this sounds like a sales advert.

  • ^ you didnt give any real information on parts so its hard to know..

  • that was deliberate to not sound like an advert but upon thinking about it pretty stupid. 2012 frame an forks, sugino rd2 chainset, weinmann rims (dp18) on quando hubs, planet x stem, ritchey bars, maxm seatpost, madison flux saddle, tektro mini vs, rack and sks guards.

  • Size?

  • large

  • Cross-post from current projects... My pomp in its latest incarnation

  • Look very very British Audax.

Need day-glo gillet to complete it.

  • Hello, all. Appollogies if this has been discussed ad nauseum. I'm looking for a new frame to hang some existing parts on. The pomp looks to be just the thing for me. I'm 6'3" tall with long legs (37" true inseam). Do you folks think I could ride an XL comfortably? Do any of you have similar dimensions and pictures of your bikes? I'd appreciate the advice.

My surly and I got in a bit of an altercation with a volkswagen opperated by a traffic law dissobeying girl. We put a few good dents in the hood, but the volkswagen managed to cripple my poor cross check. I have other bikes, but no fixed gear currently. Thats why I'm looking at the pomp.

  • Check the top tube length of your Surly and see if it correspond to the Pomp.

Surly tend to run a little longer than usual.

  • I've done so. I rode a 62cm cross check and it was a bit long for my liking. I think the pomp's shorter TT with an appropriate stem would work to get my bars where I want them.

    Thanks edscoble.

  • I'm 6'3" but with a slightly shorter inside leg (suggesting a longer upper body) and I find the XL to be fine. I should really put a photo up of my pomp.

  • IIRC Pompinos do come in 135. Have seen a couple of them. Also, anyone with a pre-2012 small pomp for sale?

^ coldest your rear end at your own risk, mine is an older pomp, they've crimped the stays more on the newer ones to give more tyre clearance so it's probably weaker. I got a frame builder to do mine and I've been abusing it for 12 months since, I take it off road, hop kerbs etc with no problems. I'm quite light so that might help things. How many people have snapped the stays? How many of those were coldest to accommodate a wider wheel, how many were used/abused on the polo scene? How many were ridden as normal beaters?

  • theres a 135mm pomp on ebay right now..

  • Beagle. The pompetamine is 135 but doesn't have canti mounts (disc only) The first generation Pomps were 135, my bro has one. A friend who worked for on one reckoned there was a small run of pompetamine frames where canto mounts were fitted by mistake.

  • Golgol, that looks really nice.

  • Cheers for that but need a 120!

I'm 6ft4, and ride an XL Pompino and 60cm Cross Check. Both seem about right, using 90mm stems.

Pomp a while back (changed some bits / had some crashes since then):

    Cross Check:

Watch out if you want to use longer cranks on the Pomp. I put some 175mm Sugino 75's on and they rub the chainstay slightly.

  • Good thing you don't need to have a long cranks if you're tall.

  • Any pomp riders with sks guards still got the rear brake bridge bracket? I threw mine away, I seem to remember saying "Should I keep this... nah ill never need it." I want to swap my guards over to a different bike and I'm in need of one.
