  • I just wrote some huge history piece on the Alan brand which the computer just fucking lost...argh..I really hate computers...

    Alan were first, 1972, aerospace grade ally, glued and threaded main tubes, and other companies asked them how to do shit too. (they didn't weld stuff as ally welding was still in infancy, it couldn't be guarenteed not to fail drastically) My dad was an air frame fitter in the 50's and 60's and All planes were made this way too, glued and rivetted...The forerunner of epoxy glues like araldite was called Avdel E - Aviation Developments Epoxy- Usless facts no.563

    This one is a Super Record (cos of laurel scrolls on head tube) which means it has thicker tubes (and fork Blades) and other features to stop flexing and other 'stuff'.

    A true beauty of a bike, swap those cranks out and it would be a true peach!!!
