  • So,

I got my winter depression and therefore I gave myself a reason to spend too much money on bicycle parts that will make me happy again :-)

It's a Benotto Pista in my size (59cm) with a very bad paintjob, but with a nice geometry and no dents. It came with a mint Campagnolo Pista crankset (really, no scratch or scuffs) and some road parts (BB & Headset). Still had some parts laying around from my last winter depression which will suit this lady perfectly.

I was looking around on the interweb for information about Benotto's, but besides a few scans of brochures featuring a young Moser on the frontpage, there is not much information available. I think 90% of the questions asked about Benotto's on various fora, is about whether the particular bike is Italian or Mexican made.

I assume the frame is made out of Columbus SL tubing. The frame takes a 27 seat post, which is a bummer because 27's are much harder to find than 27.2's. All dropouts are Campagnolo. There is, besides the heart shape cutout, only one stamp (3-digits, 511) in the bottom bracket (as far as i can see). The frame is very light, lighter than my Gazelle Pista.

My plan is to make this Benotto pretty again. The previous owner did a horrible job with a rattlecan i suppose, so it is going to have a fresh new paintjob (no powder coat). But i can't figure out what the original color-options were. I know that famous Benotto bronze-champagne like color, but i also see quite some white and even some red ones.

If you can give me any more info on my new toy, i would be delighted!
