The reason? 1) The bike is super rear-heavy with a Shimano hub gear, and 2) It's specifically for (almost uniquely, though will probably stick tools in it too) magicshine batteries of which I have 2 (lights) on the front and one in the rear (ooo er).
This was always my plan, though I was worried about the method of attachement.
Oddly my problem is now the other way around - I'm quite confident the spare matching GB straps I have can be bolted to the (strong) leather panel in the bag and then round the top tube and downtube, and with the bottom one offset to the angle of the downtube, it will be snug and secure.
However, it shouts "clearly wasn't made for this purpose" and one rarely over estimates the rattle these things can bring. Oh,a nd it covers the last 2 letters of the 'Jackson'. A moot point but still...
It's quite a bit of grief to send it back to France, so not sure if I should persevere with it as planned?
Got this on 'my' build thread though going to seek opinions here too...
Does the below look shit, and is it going to be a nightmare to keep still....?
Here is a Gilles Berthoud Frame bag: It's supposed to look like this:

(I also have the saddle and handlebar bag to match, and will one day get the panniers if I want to extend it's use further than the planned uber-posh commuter / Paris Roubaix steed)
However, I purchased it with it in mind that it would sit in the front of my frame, upside down. Like so:
