  • All I simply did was to quote the industry recommended retail prices for the components used to give you an idea of how much that build might cost, regardless of how much we have decided to charge for our parts. How much is that then-the price tag is quite clear on the sign?

And yes, not all the frames we used for our reconditioned builds were Legnano or 531, but the resprayed carlton or raleigh jobs were around the £250 mark, so I am not really sure what you expect from a £250 bike anyway (which we were still giving warranty for) while still trying to run a business.

    Mendacity-a-go-go as per usual then.

You quoted those prices to try and find some way of justifying the stupid price tag that brought mirth to the masses and divert criticism. Now that you've been called out on it you're trying to backpedal away from them. Anyone might be forgiven for thinking that's less than sincere, if not outright dishonest.

You'd get a lot less stick if you just fessed up that you're trying to make a quick buck off of tossers as opposed to trying to justify comedy prices on what's not a very attractive or logical build by spouting (by your own acknowledgement) incorrect prices in the hope people won't realise it's taking the piss.
