£900 could almost get you half a mink coat.

Why does anyone care this much about foffa?
-
• #2229
I see your Morrissey and I raise you a Jagger:
You'll note he's not riding a Foffa. Morrissey might though, I've heard he's a bit of a cunt.

Now, this is how to argue on the internet.

As far your warranty goes, do you actually offer a warranty on a bike? Or do you offer warranty on the components of that bike? A warranty which is available whether you bought those items assembled into a bike or individually? So really, your punter pays £164.10 for a 1st service? I've worked in bike shops, I know what a first service entails. £164.10 worth of work it aint.
All our bikes come with a 12 months warranty on the full build, 5 years on the frame and forks and a free service.

Right. So you're now saying that your actual prices are cheaper than the RRP trade prices you yourself used to justify the pricing on that build? Why wouldn't you just use the actual prices you charge?
All I simply did was to quote the industry recommended retail prices for the components used to give you an idea of how much that build might cost, regardless of how much we have decided to charge for our parts.
And yes, not all the frames we used for our reconditioned builds were Legnano or 531, but the resprayed carlton or raleigh jobs were around the £250 mark, so I am not really sure what you expect from a £250 bike anyway (which we were still giving warranty for) while still trying to run a business.

Nicely side stepped.
Perhaps my fault for not being clear enough.
What warranty do you offer that I would not be entitled to had I bought the parts retail and built the bike myself?
My comment about the free service stands. £164.10 buys a lot of labour in any bike shop, the labour involved in a 'free service' would, generally, be about £15-20 in value. So either your bikes are bad enough quality or poorly enough built that they need £164.10 of work by the first service or you're taking the piss.
The last shop I worked in offered 2 free services because the first one us little more than barrel adjuster turning to take up the cable stretch and a safety check to ensure everything is still tight and working properly.
I'd also like to point out that any customer having cables fitted in any of the last few bike shops ive worked in would have been offered a free of charge adjustment once the cables stretched/bedded in. So, had they bought all the parts bar cables and assembled the bike themselves then brought it to us they would have gotten 90% of the benefit of your' free service' anyway.

Mendacity-a-go-go as per usual then.
You quoted those prices to try and find some way of justifying the stupid price tag that brought mirth to the masses and divert criticism. Now that you've been called out on it you're trying to backpedal away from them. Anyone might be forgiven for thinking that's less than sincere, if not outright dishonest.
You'd get a lot less stick if you just fessed up that you're trying to make a quick buck off of tossers as opposed to trying to justify comedy prices on what's not a very attractive or logical build by spouting (by your own acknowledgement) incorrect prices in the hope people won't realise it's taking the piss.

This thread should be closed. Its shit. Whenever I see a foffa, I think its a shame. But lfgss aren't exactly foffas target market. And as long as this thread stays open, its just going to be lfgss members slating dani which he may or may not deserve. Its just a bit boring....

Yes, it does seem that the people tearing into Danifoffa are doing so purely out of a misplaced self-importance, a desire to prove they know more about bikes, its a kind of petty one-upmanship. I've been taking a slightly sick of enjoyment from reading the thread, it's abit like watching jade goody get torn apart for her racist comments on Big Brother. I think the main point, which has already been made a few times, is that lfgss is not Foffa's target market, it will make no differance to foffa what anyone says on here or what anyone on here thinks, and both sides of the argument start to look a bit silly as all the same points are repeated ad infinitum. But it's quite funny, so carry on..

Meh. Just let the market decide if he's taking the mick or not. Let's face it, if he wanted to get rich quick maybe a career in FS would have been better. He's got a business to run, let him get on with it.

In that case the company motto should be "Foffa bikes. Made in London's famous London. Don't like our prices? Do one."

As with any other shop no?

Who's stopping him 'getting on with it'?
He comes on here to try and defend his shonky builds of his own volition, and if he comes across badly when challenged on what he's saying and doing it's not because of the evil minions of lfgss...

He's not the one coming across badly in this thread.

JB is coming across pretty well.

Personally I dont really care what foffa does, I dont like his bikes and I do agree that they are overpriced by a mile but he has every right to run his business. We are not his target market but many people on here feel the need (rightly or wrongly) to call him out all the same. What riles me up though is his compulsion to come on here and defend himself every time someone says the slightest bad word about him.
Danni, give it a fucking rest, we dont like your bikes but were not stopping you from running your business so just get over it.
My eyes!!!
