Maybe the SRAM levers make all the difference to the braking but from experiance, I'd suspect your double tap levers are straining against the bar every time you use your brakes and you're just saying it's a "bloody brilliant bike", which I'd have to disagree with, as you own one. To be fair, you may have one of the better ones. They're not all terrible but none of them are great. Working on them regularly I can promise you that over the range, the quality is piss poor.
