  • Wheeehaaa, the frame is here!!!

The whole idea of this project was to create a steel 'do everything' bike and give me an excuse to have a frame made to hang a lot of 80s bits I had knocking about on. The main use of the bike will be for my 20 mile each way coastal commute.

So.... this is not a track bike, I already have one of those, it is a fixed for the road.

It is 73 parallel, 56x56, has no toe overlap, no bottle cage bosses (I'm only going to be on it for an hour at a time) I can always bung on a silly saddle mounted cage if I want to do longer rides.

Ok, so it's bog-standard 531, with a couple of styling touches I wanted: semi-sloping lugless fork crown and fastback stays. I also had the heart cut-outs in the lugs enlarged and picked out in red.

Having seen the crazy prices other builders are charging, you need to know that this frame complete with headset supplied and fitted, BB fitted and P&P was a princely £461. Give Steve a ring, he's a good guy, but expect to wait an extra month or so after planned delivery date!

    Now to build it up.......
