Klien had the first inetgrater setup on their mountain bikes if i remember
Disclaimer: used to own a klien altitude yellow/pink fade
Klein had loads of innovations. smooth welded construction, oversized alu tubes, oversized integrated bottom brackets. integrated headsets, complex butted (axial and radial) alloy tubes, shaped tubes etc. Klein also adopted a lot of the stuff that was just starting to happen such as internal cable routing, extended seat-tubes, threadless steer tubes and vertical drop-outs. Quality and finish was also extraordinary.
When Klein came along most road bicycles used 1" steel tubes--- with a few exceptions such as Vitus with their alu tubes or the Teledyn Titanium--- and were in larger sizes quite noodles. The Klein frames were lighter and stiffer than pretty much anything out there.
