  • I'm knocking this on the head, as much as I would like one, he's quoting me £200, with the new dropouts.

I could probably buy a 2nd hand mash frame for that.

Mine cost me £204 posted with this spec

Frame size: extra large (XL) -with custom geo i dicussed with him
Style: triple triangle low pro shape
    Down tube: oval
    Top tube: triangular
    Welds: smooth
    Headset style: integrated
    Rear brake bridge: drilled
Paint: same colour and finish as this frame http://www.bikemielec.com/en/img_oth/ostre_kolo_6.jpg (it is the dark red one on the far right of the examples on the track bike page)
    Seat post diameter: 31,6

Also i was looking for a cheep beat-down mash and as far as i could see there were none going for anywhere near £200 but could be wrong.

  • I ordered a full custom fatbike frame with disc mounts, ss drops with derailleur hanger, bottlemounts, cableguides, powdercoat, offset backend etc. for 216 euros inc. shipping. It was so cheap that I can't even be mad about it being 6 weeks late (should be here next week I hope). I'm slightly worried about them getting the offset rear right (even though I sent them fairly detailed drawings), but as long as they get the general idea right, I should be able to make it work.

  • ^ can you share the drawings?

  • £200 is still nothing for a custom alloy frame surely?

The new dropouts could well be worth the extra £££ time will tell I guess

  • Two Mielecs ordered on early december arrived today.
Mash SSCX geo copied in sizes medium and large. Our finnish site is down due maintenance(almost went to jump off a bridge earlier) so sharing these here first.

With some changes, traditional headset, smooth welds and a clear coat the price was 207€ each.

Added disc brakes and a support for them, cable hangers, possibility to install mudguards(in the future if/when I get something else this will be a perfect commuter) and 45mm tyre clearance(just measured, asked for +37mm).

    more detailed photos

  • looks nice! Asked for 45mm clearance on mine. Most likely will get it then.

    Rear brake cable under toptube?

  • Cool, they look really nice. The dropout with the disc mount is pretty massive (you could probably make a cutout if you wanted to), but I'm sure it won't look bad once it's built up. Getting excited about mine!

Edit- no derailleur hanger? I though you were going to get one just in case?

  • yup cable hangers under the top tube and along the seat stay.

I think the dropouts with the disc brake mounts look like two dinosaurs heads but I don't mind ;)

  • no derailleur hanger, I think that option was included in negaatio's order?

  • go ss or go home ha!
    liking it

  • I like them! I see what you mean by dinosaur head :)

  • yeah got track ends with hanger on mine.

  • Anyone have any trouble installing the BB on their melec. I have mine installed but there was resistance and had to wrench it in. Then read that was a bike non in whole steel vs alu.

  • Grease? Thread depth mismatch or clearcoat needed chasing out?

you shouldn't have to wrench any BB in unless it's the last few mm's. The threads probably needed chasing, but there's a chance you will have forced it in at a dodgy angle and it will fall out in time. It should screw in by hand, especially the first part.

Great value. The FinBeiks look good.

How do you line up your rotor/calliper with track ends? Do those eyelets for the callipers allow them to slide horizontally?

  • sure they will. they're just not a beautiful as these..

    ...Thread depth mismatch...

    This maybe.
    Couldn´t fit a Token-BB (19mm thread) but a Shimano BB(shorter thread, didn´t measure it) fitted without wrenching.

  • Haha. Frame #Vince.

ps. Work on your censoring of your details.
