Avoid anyone who says they are a social media guru.
They don't really exist, and if they do there are probably fewer than a dozen in the world, so you're unlikely to get one of them.
It's also worth bearing in mind that social media is just a medium: you want someone who is a good communicator and who knows how to use social media.
