How is that guy still going.... So many stolen Brooks :-(
He's dumb enough to list his girlfriend's little company on ebay on his own account, with local pickup. Probably find a big stash of Brooks and other stuff there if you find him. All his stolen saddles are posting only, under various ebay names.
Edit: forgot to quote previous post!

Little chance of this surfacing but worth a try - Had my brooks swift nicked from mile end rd this afternoon. It's chrome with honey brown leather. Also it has a distinctive dent on the underside of the leather (about 1cm long and a few mm deep). ...keeping my eyes peeled on gumtree and ebay.

Judging by the number of snipped liqourice lace locks and the missing 'abondoned'/semi-stripped frame this morning, I'd say that somone hit America Square in the City overnight

I always 'knew' that it is bound to happen to me too - and I had my Condor Tempo stolen two days ago. Gutted is an understatement.
That's me - when life was so good!!

Not only was it a lovely Maroon colour, but had a SON dynamo hub and lights!! I was riding Audax rides with it...
Should you see such a rare creature being offered / sold - please let me know! After all, how many Fixies have a SON dynamo???
Thanks!

Saw a way too small green Pompino with drop bars being ridden through New X couple of hours ago that reminded me of a bike I usually see being ridden by a lady on my commute.

You might remember my story of how my prized Eddy Merckx Domo Frites was nicked a couple of years ago. I put it up on gumtree and then got a call from a guy at New Covent Garden Market Jumble sale saying that someone was trying to sell him this bike that he had seen on gumtree, etc. etc. The good news was that I got my bike back and have been advising anyone who gets theirs nicked in South London to head down there and check it out. The whole affair had ended up with a bit of a Mexican stand-off with me handing over some cash to get my Merckx back (the stem was worth £120 alone and the frame was a wedding present from my wife so money wasn't going to stop me getting it back)...
I should put in an addendum at this point that I myself have read a few posts on here questioning the ethics and legality of a certain bike shop in Elephant and Castle which prides itself on 'Recycling' bikes. I started working near said bike shop before Christmas and managed to pop in a few days ago to check it out (they had a nice aluminium Cougar frame hanging up-* and still do if you have one missing*) and then again today to buy an inner tube.
I asked if they sold old components (campag, etc.) and they said no, and that they didn't get enough of any worth in. I thought it was a bit strange as they were pretty categorical in saying that they wouldn't do this. I thought "hey ho" (I was in Elephant and Castle after all) and then mumbled my way out of the shop.
Wait for it, I'm getting somewhere with this...
While I was there a white van pulled up to unload and deliver some frames to the shop. It was full to the brim of frames, bikes and parts and incredibly similar to one of those I'd seen in the NCG Jumble Sale's on that Sunday two years ago, so much so that I thought, "oh hey, there's a coincidence".
The guy started unloading and the mechanic (white haired European guy) from said shop, started taking some nodder frames into the shop, leaving a couple of road frames outside that looked quite nice. One was a possible badly sprayed orange Reynolds tubing (probably between 57 and 59) with some Shimano STI's (don't do Shimano so couldn't tell you what ones) as well as Dura Ace cable stops and some pretty nice Campag mirage monoplaners (I love monoplaners).
As the white haired guy hauling the frames in was the same one who said they didn't get campag stuff I decided to ask about buying the brakes. He ignored me and carried on. A young lad working out there said speak to the manager (or manageress), She said speak to the white haired guy, he put me on to the driver of the van. All very confusing but not one of them would consider selling me the brakes there and then (Don't need them but thought I could save them and see if anyone on here had owned the frame).
Anyway, all the way through this weird little to and fro, no one was clear who was in charge of these frames and who I should be approaching to buy, the manageress finally pointed me to the white-haired guy who pointed me to the guy offloading the van (stolen goods anyone?).
I spoke to the van guy at length, who seemed eager for me to say that the frame was quite nice (it wasn't, 'twas a piece of shite, maybe an old 70's very low range French or Italian thing) and was trying to engage me in conversation but clearly not revealing whether anything was for sale or not. Also, he clearly knew shit-all about bikes.
I decided to leave it and come back another day to see what happened to the frame and components, they had been implying that the would not remove components but would simply rebuild bikes "*as is" *so I thought I'd see if that was the truth (doubtful)...
As I was leaving (after the van guy had asked my interest- that I spent my free time restoring old bikes, and what I rode- the aforementioned Merckx, a Chirico, a Ribble and my Daccordi (come to think of it, he also asked how much the brakes were worth). A Yoot greeted him with a fist bump (think he called out Steve). Clearly mates, clearly know each other well, clearly all from the same manah.
I looked over my shoulder to see who had greeted him and there was a gentleman of African-Caribbean origin, late 20's early 30's, with a younger, skinnier and spottier white guy. The black guy did a double take when he saw me and seemed to have seen a ghost. he was blatantly staring at me. ...Couldn't work out why, I know I'm good looking but I'm not known to turn many people.
Then the penny (or should I say fifty quid reward for returning my bike) dropped. I knew I'd seen both guys before and now I knew where, two years ago, holding onto my prized Merckx with D-locks in hand waiting for me to hand over some moolah. I raised my eyebrow at him and laughed, before walking away, smirking at life's funny coincidences and resolving to perhaps inform this forum (that I unfortunately don't get so much time to frequent anymore).
As I walked away I sneaked a quick look over my shoulder to see the guy gesturing in my direction and chatting away at haste with the driver. The look on his face absolutely stone cold made my day...
:)
Anyway, by that reasoning (and what I know of human interaction and sociology)...
Known Bike thieves conversing with highly likely bike thief who is supplying Bike shop in Elephant and Castle= Bike shop is dodgy as an ice cream parasol.
Did I say that the bike shop's emphasis seemed to be on re-cycling, is that how you spell it? Can't remember all of a sudden...
Those Cycle Task force bods should probably pay them a visit though...

Has anyone lost a blue On One (front brake/flat pedals) with Orange rims? Passed this rather shady looking scaffolding truck (reg. AE03 BVU) at 8:30 this morning at the junction where Parkway meets Regent's Park, with the bike bungee-corded to a ladder on the back of the truck. Looked well dodgy.
Inclined to believe that the guy in the truck was not the owner because of the filthy look I got, but if you are, apologies.

Pic:
It now has Sram Red (Black) cranks (compact 50/34, 170mm, GXP) and shifters, with Sram Force front and rear mechs.
Still has shimano r500 wheels, deda rhm02 bars and deda stem, superleggera post and charge saddle.
If anyone sees this please place a lock around it and contact me. It has been reported stolen.
