I did it in a day last year. Hard work but very do-able. Took us around 17 hours I think but looking back 12 hours or so wouldn't be out of the question with less stops and better training. We did Winchester to Eastbourne and met quite a few people doing it along the way too.
I'd highly recommend it
I know that some of you are into CX and mountain biking and thought this might be of interest.
The local paper, the Evening Argus runs an annual challenge on the South Downs Way. This year it runs 17, 18 & 19 May.
You have to get some sponsorship but not that much, the minimum amount is £150.00.
Registration is a further £40.00
You get free camping, free food stops and a fair bit of support.
I've done it twice but some years back - its quite challenging, especially the year it rained non stop, but it is very rewarding. The feeling when you reach the finish line at Beachy Head on the third day is wonderful - a real sense of achievment!
I plan to do it again this year with three friends.
You can ride any kind of bike you wish. And there are different options to choose from, two or three day ride the length of the Downs, or just a one day from Brighton to Beachy Head.

Anyone else fancy it?
Cheers
