Bag Preservation

  • It is time for me to replace my Sac and i just wanted to know how to prevent it from smelling Bad after being soaked numerous times throughout its lifespan... i don't know how great throwing my bag in the washing machine will be?

    Things i've tried Febreeze/dryer sheets/car freshener

Had the straps reattached and holes patched last summer but its long due for retirement.

How do you keep it from getting Soaked in Rainy weather?

I'm hoping to score a mission workshop Shed next.

  • I just run a Bic razor over mine every couple of days and gently massage in a bit of hand cream. Keeps it soft, supple, and relatively wrinkle free.

    Hope this helps.

    Fucking Ouch

How do you keep it from getting Soaked in Rainy weather?

    Molasses

  • smell : get a small sack of charcoal and place some of said charcoal in sac it will absorb the smell / odours

waterproofing : nikkwax tx-10 or equivalent / or graingers www.grangers.co.uk/ will provide some kind of outer shell waterproofing for gore-tex jackets cotton jackets and the like i'm sure it's work for sac's

  • I'll try it, but surely soap and water and a sprinkle of talc should suffice?

  • you could try bicarb soda

  • thanks for the input thus far...

i will be gradually working in my newly acquired satchel in rotation only on sunny days, kinda like having a beater bike but with bags

  • sorry are we talking scrotums here or messenger bags ?

  • only shaved ones

Buddy didn't specify whether it is a VX... non vinyl version i guess

  • xxl zip lock to keep my electronics safe.. Jokes

    Holey

Papa got a new bag... Gulp

  • you could try bicarb soda
ahh this thread cracked me up, careful using bicarb, I used it on an old pair of trainers many moons ago and it ate through the trainer itself, use sparingly is the name of the game with that stuff, as I think i went a bit OTT

  • ^will proceed with caution then

As suspected it's not the same vinyl as my old bag but much more weather proof on the inside for sure

Couldn't wait for a Sunny day so looks like the new one is on the same path

already got stains from road filth...

  • I just run a Bic razor over mine every couple of days and gently massage in a bit of hand cream. Keeps it soft, supple, and relatively wrinkle free.

    Hope this helps.
