  • If we're talking about biking terms you hate, then nothing gets me riled quite like 'miler'.

    If you hear it, you can almost be 100% certain that it's some god awful, Bike Radar reading nodder MAMIL boasting about that 'cheeky 30 miler' he put in on Sunday. The ride was probably used to evaluate the vertical compliance of his new bottle and the lateral stiffness of the new giant saddlebag he just got from Evans or something.

    I've never heard it once used by someone I would consider a decent rider or attached to a number that would be considered anything other than tame by anyone that spends any time at all on a bike.

    I say miler sometimes - on the Weekend Ride thread for instance. I'm not usually testing the vertical compliance of anything, least not my wind chill affected manhood which probably retreated towards where my nuts were last seen about 5 hours previous. I would never claim to be anything approaching a "decent rider" but even if I was I wouldn't be about to adjust my terminology because of chippy elitism such as this.
