  • Not mine, but seen on Campyoldy, link below. Thought I might like it at £350, but know in my heart that I'd be unhappy as the top tube nuzzled my balls a little too closely! Seems a bargain to me... Can't guarantee it's still for sale though.

  • Nigel's a goon man and I don't doubt his integrity, but that frame appears to have three cable guides on the tt, I was under the impression that frames of that era only had two cable guides?
    perhaps done with the refurb?

  • check that thoroughly before buying

  • ya git me

  • You're right having looked at other examples. More photos seem to be available, so caveat emptor and all that...

  • mean to call him a goon though

  • I have a 77 mexico, and the serial is 92 under bb, not two letters and 3 numbers

  • I think that's a private seller on Nigel's website , not Nigel's own stock.
I'm with you on this one defiantly not a super , top of the seat stays look wrong for a start .

  • the colour scheme ain't period correct, 70's and early 80's Nags were predominantly
    one colour , no?
It weren't until mid to late '80s when Ernie's art department became overcome by the second 'Summer of Love" with house music etc all night long and started painting the more absurd colour schemes

  • Colnago Super currently on offer on ebay-it looks somewhat different? Two cable guides on top tube and pantos on seat stay cluster

  • late 70's had a hollow seat stay cap, engraved detailing din't get in till the Saronni super era '82 circa, with the colour scheme on ebay I'd say '87-88
I had a Master Olympic of that era in the same decor

  • '78 Supers already had engraved seat stay tops, if I remember correctly.

  • My 1980 Superissimo has engraved caps, the first year of this
    according to

  • really?

Yes. I started cycling in 79. Friend of mine had a 1978 Colnago Super with logos in the seat stay caps.
Blue frame, yellow decals. 1st Colnago I've ever seen.

  • I woudl have guessed it's a Colnago Sport (pre super era). Should have been done with these sticker sets

Tbh the font on the decals makes my angry as it looks like the Olympic era stuff, only with the Super bit (which admittedly looks like it's from the correct era, though put on the TT and not the chainstay)

watch out for this seller, I bought a bike from him and he removed the selle italia flite titanium saddle and substituted a crap tourist saddle with bag hoops :( :( :(

I bought an '82 Super with caps off the Legendary Erik Fox, and he told me caps didn't come in till 82.
stays were hollow first, then had engraving in the hollow, pre 82
    perhaps my post mislead you

  • looks the same era as mine, hollow un cut stays, 2 tt cable guides, nice!
77 cable guides came in, hence my dating mine from then

  • you see quite a few colnago 'sports' and other 'vintage' models coming up with no club cutouts, flat stay caps etc, any way of ID-ing these as genuine?

    http://bulgier.net/pics/bike/Catalogs/colnago/07.jpg

  • never seen a right Nag with flat stay caps, so would consider that an omen, if no clover/club cut out under bb, more than 2 tt cable guides, would not take
many try to palm off Colners/Colnero's with the ''spade'' bb out off as Nags
    early Nag cat scans,

    1st gen Mexico, I have a 2nd

    circa 73
Hollow/fluted stay caps, 3 cable ''clamps'' on tt, prior to 2 braze on guides incorporated in the late '70's
