2013-01-24 - Rider Down, Tooley Street

Posted on
  • Saw a rider down at about 11am on Tooley street just past Druid st opposite City Hall. He had a very bloody nose and office workers were supplying him with tissues until the ambulance arrived. He had been going west on the temporary contraflow lane and seems to have come off trying to go up the curb - there is about a 3cm ridge on what looks like a dropped curb just by the sign saying "cyclists dismount and use the footway"

  • Hope rider is ok.

I'm quite confused aboutt this stretch of road travelling west at the moment. I tend to take the Tanner St/Bermondsey St diversion because it is quicker and seems safer.

  • Heal up rider.

(Been doing same as Stonehedge, avoiding the westbound contraflow to nowhere)

  • Hope the rider is healing. Hitting a small ridge at an angle can easily catch you out.
The westbound contraflow changes as the road works move around. Currently it helps people working and visiting area or you can do a short walk to Shand st to link back to Bermondsey st. From Tower Bridge I use it to Druid st and then south to work.
