You'll also find different kind of connections on the back of active speakers. XLR, occasionally TRS sockets, which have an extra element to reduce noise. All part of the rich audiophile tapestry.
These are damn nice speakers. York uni had some when I was there and I preferred them to their Genelecs. I've got some Tannoy Reveals, nowhere near as good.
