Even though it has its own current projects thread: this is one of mine(and my girlfriends). I also have a king of Mercia touring frame yet to be built. Lack of funds is stopping me at the moment, so for now it is hanging on my wall. The tandem is a money pit, still needs Velo Orange pannier racks and Carradice saddle bags......Hope to be totally finished by late spring.

My first bike was a Mercian. I don't have it any more so I can't show you a picture but I appreciated it.

I had your picture of all the components for this bicycles as my desktop for a long long time. Beautiful build, I bet its lovely to ride.
This is my Super-Vig - terrible photo, but unfortunately as its about 4 thousand miles away from me I can't take another shot. Boo!

I'm sending a c1980 King of Mercia frame back to get resprayed and have a stuck seatpost removed. I'm going to sell it once i get it back to fund a track frame - is anyone interested in it? If you get in now get a choice of colour. Will be selling it on at cost. PM for details

Thanks a lot! It's lovely to ride, yeah, very comfortable over long distances (and short ones too). I have to admit I've been toying vaguely with the idea of respraying the frame... I won't though.

I've put a deposit down on a 1969 Mercian....Unsure of model at the moment. I can't get down to pick it up for a couple of weeks though, due to my wife going in for an operation on Monday.
Currently, it is powdercoated blue, with a crap adjustable stem and flat bar combo....I'm going to see how bad the powdercoat makes the lugwork look in the flesh, to see if I will repaint straight away or not. The running gear will be swapped out for some Campag bits and bobs, and the bars will be swapped for some Randonneur ones ASAP!I'll bung some pictures on here when done, and probably do a current projects thread ;o)
Ive wanted a Mercian for years!....It will compliment my Hetchins perfectly, I think.

^Before and after pics, please. Will you be getting Mercian to do the respray? It seems right to do so and they do a beautiful minced puppy red.....

Here's mine.
It's a King of Mercia Road from around 1980 (I think) which I have owned now for about 25 years!

See what I mean?
I've yet to see a really ugly one.....If mine turns out looking anything like these ( and Skully's), I will be very happy.

Stop it!
BRG looks superb with those creamy band/headtube accents....
:0)
I've been playing with the frame designer on the mercian website.......don't know whether to go ruby flam to match the Hetchins.....I could possibly fly it under the wife's radar a bit easier.

this has been my favorite frame since I first saw it, despite the mad toe overlap, and one day I will own a replica and not build it with flat bars and not have the wrong chainstay chromed. I believe it's an ex forum bike
(apologies for image size)
