  • Tonic have quite a distinctive headset system where the upper bearing is a normal press-fit cup and the lower bearing is integrated, and they machine the inside of the bottom end of the headtube for that. In any case, you can have a headtube with consistent interior diameter and fit headset bearings with different steerer clamp diameters. That's the easier way to do it with steel, certainly. It's a big ol' headtube they use on the Magnum CX:
