I've finally got round to giving my Gazelle road bike a bit of a going over ready for the summer (much overdue) I've stripped pretty much everything and getting round to replacing the parts that are a bit spent.
I've come to the rear derailleur, a Campag Victory number like this one.
I've taken it apart, cleaned it all up and put it back together again. The problem I've got is the spring that controls the jockey wheel position.
The only reason I've not gone out and found a replacement is that the spring appears to be drawing the jockey wheels the opposite direction, towards the front of the bike meaning the chain, when looped through is not in tension at all and in effect the derailleur appears redundant.
I was hoping that someone could tell me if I've been a total weapon and put it back together wrongly or if indeed it sounds like the spring is fucked and probably needs a partial/full replacement....
