• Shame the article isn't open for comments. Hopefully the Daily Mail will pick it up, people deserve to vent their outrage.

  • The calibre of people commenting on MEN articles is about the same as those on Daily mail articles. Quite depressing.

  • It's clearly time to call out bad cyclists...

  • But officers said there was nothing they could do because the bike was not motorised.

Pffft, the police don't half come out with some cobblers sometimes. There are loads of stories about them refusing to investigate cars hitting cyclists too, they just can't be bothered.

  • Bull. Cycling dangerously is actually illegal. They can't be bothered.

  • A passer-by stopped the cyclist, who was trying to leave the scene, until police arrived. But officers said there was nothing they could do because the bike was not motorised.

    ...

Police said the suspect was already in prison for shoplifting but he will be interviewed on suspicion of careless cycling when he is freed.

Er... Shoplifter hits woman while attempting to escape by bike?

  • ^ yeah, but that doesn't sell papers to the likes of "Outraged of Droylsden".

  • Cyclists are a greater threat to society than shoplifters.

  • Hmmm...

  • Now I don’t want to go outside the shop without looking left and right.

    Right...

    (Left.)

  • does make me wonder whether the police couldn't be bothered or were ignorant. Either way they don't exactly come out smelling of roses.
