  • Great ride.
    There were two official stops:
Off-licence at Putney Bridge and Parliament Square for Big Ben at 12.

  • Loved that, thanks for leading MA3K. As always, great fun.

  • Was great fun guys- thanks!

A shame the Botanist ran out of beer just as we arrived- bloody typical

  • Really good ride and pace, hope this format of bridges happens again!

  • Had to cycle back past Vauxhal bridge last night. Asked a policeman what the issue was, and apparently a pedestrian was killed under the bridge :(

  • cor! that was a good, fun night. Probably the 2nd fastest forum ride I've been on. Brilliant idea to do this ride at a pace when the weather's cold.

Bloody cold ride home into that biting north wind! Didn't actually get home till 2.20

    Cheers Ma3k and Mrs Ma3k

  • Just out of interest, what was the fastest forum ride you've been on?

We also got home pretty late after bagels.

  • Great ride. Good to see new guys mel and marco.

Highlight was the big issue seller rejecting the offer of free pastry outside the bagelry

  • Also good to see conker/amygdala/laner, and some other faces i recognised but not enough...

  • And the creepy guy who said "that looks like a lot of bread for one man" before grabbing himself some pastry and creeping off down the road - those eyes!

Haha, i didn't realise but he had some mates waiting for him. Are you the one with the moustache?

  • Haha, no. Bright orange jacket, big grey fat tyred bike.

  • Was it you lot I drunkenly DAS'd quite late on Eastcheap? I vaguely remember something like this happening, but can't remember the results...

  • yeah that was us

  • Gutted to hear about the ped death at vauxhall, puts a sad twist on an otherwise ace night.

My ride home from beigels was very cold and slow. Had to put my feet in a hot washing up bowl to defrost before bed. The amount bread we consumed on brick lane confused a few ppl, the big issue seller who threatened ma3k with a bottle for one. I'm the moustached guy btw.

  • Just out of interest, what was the fastest forum ride you've been on?

I reckon it was the circle line when there were only about 8 of us

  • Greetings folks,
Well what a lovely ride that was.
Got down to Kew on time (lovely to see you en route James...). We seemed to set off at a cracking pace. I didn't think I would be able to last must longer than er Chiswick bridge, but then it seemed to settle down a bit in to a lovely nicely paced ride. It was amazing around Barnes bridge to cycle along unlit paths where blinky lights were not bright enough yet we were still in London.
The ride was billed as non stopping, but all cyclists will know the importance of taking on liquids at regular intervals, so there were a few sneaky off licence stops to purchase 'training liquids'.
Splendid planning by John ensured that we arrived at Parliament square just before midnight. This gave everyone the chance to make a political statement next to the statues, trees or flower beds and then watch Big Ben do it's thing. We then had a nice roll in over the remaining bridges and got to Tower bridge at about 12.30 am.
I then headed home and realised I had 40.24 miles on the clock - not bad for a Saturday night in January!
Many thanks for all who turned out on such a cold night to make it such a magic ride.
Peace and Love to one and all,
    Tim

  • Thanks Tim.

  • Hi - great first LFGSS experience for me - roasting my nuts over an open fire outside the HnC cos I mistimed my journey to Kew. Meeting various losers with nought better to do on a Saturday night than freeze said nuts on gearless brakeless bikes. Watching the security guard at Parliament Square deal with tree watering by those who had had 'hydrated' earlier. 50 twinkly fairies crosoong Tower Bridge. Cant wait to do it again with a new bunch of friends...but even faster next time...!!! Hi to all. Mel.

  • Hi Nic - good to meet you too - catch up soon I'm sure.

    Cheers - mel.

  • Great first ride with the lfgss community, nice pace and good people. Looking forward to another outing!
Respect to the MA3K for organisation!
    Cheers,
    Jonny

  • Had to cycle back past Vauxhal bridge last night. Asked a policeman what the issue was, and apparently a pedestrian was killed under the bridge :(

God, saw how they were trying to reanimate to the guy :( in my way back home

Amazing ride, thanks to all who helped me to don´t get lost!

  • Despite me cramping out at Chelsea bridge, skipping a load of bridges and getting frozen. It was a fun ride. Props to MA3K for hosting!

  • Great ride, thank you so much for organising. Pic of the big romantic moment.
