Yep, all the pen markings are sizings. I guess to make it easier to whip the right sized frame off the hanger back in the day.
The front chainring is indeed slotted, but properly machined. To swap between bikes/bcd's I guess?
The hubs, rims and spokes are now polished up and nice leather straps not the cheapos as in the retrobike link.
