  • I can't eat corn on the cob without those little prong-handle things that you can stick in to each end to hold.

  • Unrelated to that, why do so many cyclists signal with a little point at about hip height rather than sticking their arm out, is there a reason for this?

It's a balance thing. Not very good cyclists don't have much balance and become wobbly if they put their whole arm out.

They will tell you they do it because it just looks just so darn cool but the truth is, given stabilisers, they would indicate properly.

  • Bullshit.

    Shopping trolleys are surprisingly hefty...

And surprisingly rare in Trafalgar square.

Central london doesn't have supermarkets ffs, the little tesco expresses or whatever are basket only

students have the ability to find shopping trolleys anywhere when they're drunk enough.

I think he may have been making it all up.

There's a few in the Grand Union Canal if anyone has a sudden need for one.

  • There's also a door and door frame (door still in the door frame) that was floating in the Brentford area just recently and is likely still there. And I think that if someone could get to that door and open it, you'd find a staircase leading into an alternate reality... you know, one in which the roads are peaceful.

  • ..and presumably where shopping trolleys are plentiful

  • See Monsters Inc. for some very good "opening doors into other realities" fun.

It's an age thing. The youth of today, eh....

  • Tell me about it... sigh!

  • Piss off, grandpa. ;)

My guess is most are self conscious and think it's uncool. You see so few cyclists doing doing it the half measure brigade don't wanna look like tools. More importantly I see loads that are superfluous i.e. there's no one around.

  • I don't know for sure, but somebody being punched in the kidneys will probably be involved somehow.

Maybe that's why the briefcase was strapped to his back?

    Once Braved, twice shy.

    Rest assured... I'm here.. Watching..Waiting..

It is uncool, but being uncool is the new cool.

And if there's no one around, how do you see them?

  • Had to remove the image from mands post, it was from a site that is reported as having malware.

  • Hippy's spamming clothes made by his better half now? where will these abuses of power stop...

    And bikes.

(Don't wish to make light of someone losing their bike... but it is a good story, no?)

  • I occasionally find myself hipstercating half heartedly when riding out in the country far away from vehicles - there's no point indicating, but habit takes over so a waist-height twitch comes out.

  • I do that to say I'm changing lanes, but always accompanied by a shoulder glance and - generally - a thumbs up too. I always indicate shoulder height to turn corners.

isn't that what the highway code says cyclists should do?

    Is this about Julian Assange?

    Really?! Heh, I didn't realise.
