  • "For the first time in about a year i wish i had/needed a front brake...

just had my first club ride with a bunch of roadies while i was om my brakeless Dolan, was generally okay, until we had to climb this stupidly steep hill then come down the other side with some really sharp windy steep bends, really muddy and icey, pretty much locking up the rear wheel for like 100 metres half way down the hill but not slowing down, one corner was just to steep and to sharp, weight right over the rear while skidding/drifting around, ended up just going right up the bank and falling on the road, did another 15 or so miles with blood pouring out my knee.

not a nice feeling when you actually can't stop."

Been there, seen it, done that, bought the t-shirt, not to mention new tights and front rim for my bike. Just take the pain. Think of it as part of the natural selection process; eventually you'll learn to master the technique, or, as the case might be, kill yourself trying. Don't let stupid little things like safety and common sense restrict your life.

    /Sarcasm.

I do virtually all my riding brake-free, except for pub cruising, and wouldn't change it for the world. I know it makes absolutely no sense, but does it have to? It's all part of the game.
