I got mine at Shangri La (Anu la Luna) and their (or her's at least) waiting times seemed to be fairly short.

I'm back in town at the weekend, might go for a castle visit. I do love a good castle, me.

Going in for my first ever tatt tomorrow... am a little nervous. Any tips for how to pass the time / take your mind off it? Was going to take my mp3 player and a magazine or something (it's going to take 2 - 3 hours apparently so I'm going to need some entertainment).
I've also heard that it's wise to take sugary stuff to eat drink - do any of you guys do this?

Take a calm and relaxed state of mind, and the best way to reduce pain is to smile and laugh, to relax. If you take an MP3 player consider loading it with comedy... Eddie Izzard or something.
Pain depends on location on body and skill of artist. A lot of people make too big a deal of it, if your first is on a shoulder you'll barely feel it if you have a skilled artist.

Nothing too funny. You don't want to be convulsing with laughter or anything.

My first was on my shoulder blade and hurt like hell... justsayin.
All the big work I've had done has been done by cool duds with good taste in music, so mp3 player has not been required. Chat to your artist a bit and hopefully they'll have some good tunes on. Maybe take an mp3 and a magazine as a backup plan.

Liz watched fast show during her last one, struggled not to giggle her way through it.

I just can't bring myself to pop headphones in. Feels rude somehow. I like chatting tbh.

Yeah I was thinking, from the artists point of view, it could be taken as rudeness / ignorance...

Take a drink with you. You've gonna be pretty thirst after sitting there for a couple of hours.

I'm sure it depends on the artist/situation. Some are probably just as pleased to not have to make 3 hours of small-talk I guess.

Who said anything about small talk? (:

:-)
I'm 6 hours into my sleeve now and feel quite lucky that Valerie (and Stuart who works in the same room) are pretty interesting folks to talk to.
