Aero where it helps, then. Just out of curiosity what cassette do you use? It's just that I've found 39:25 to be just about adequate in the Alps, although in truth a couple more teeth at the back might be helpful now! I'd definitely use a compact in the Pyrenees or Dolomites.

Me? 11-25. That said I've not actually ridden the bike with the 52/36- that's been an over-the-winter upgrade.

All last year it was a trad 53/39.

But! I reckon I'll be glad of the 36 when I have another crack at Zoncolan/similar.
