I’ve just had a meeting with Sophie from the Mill co project about using their event space in Mandarin Wharf for bike polo yoga and I’m hoping we can go ahead with it. http://www.themillcoproject.co.uk/mandarin-wharf/
The space is very local to Downham and Mitch on De Beauvoir Crescent so very convenient. Its not that cheap to rent though, so in order to make it viable I am initally going to run the class in 6 week course blocks.
Wednesday 7pm-8.30pm
The cost will be £60 for 6 classes
13th Feb – 20th March
The course will cover:
Core/foundation – using our foundation to stabilize our core – increasing balance, and stability, which should profoundly enhance your game.
Hips and hamstrings – increasing mobility and finding greater freedom of movement.
Backbends –stabilizing the back line of the body - erector spinae/serratus/latisimus dorsi. As well as opening up the front line of the body – psoas, quadriceps, shoulder rotators and pectoral muscles.
Yoga is a great way to redress the imbalances that repetitive movements in sports create. I hope to look in greater detail at those imbalances that are specific to bike polo. ie. holding a mallet, and riding one handed etc.
"Bike polo feels completely different after doing Anna's class on a Saturday morning. More fluid, more co-ordinated, more balanced. Every bike polo player should do yoga!"
Sophie was slightly skeptical about Bike polo's popularity, and whether we'd have enough people signing up. So I'm really hoping to prove her wrong!
If you are interested in signing up please msg me your email address and contact details and I will forward you payment instructions.
