  • me too, took me ages to work out that it wasn't

  • Likewise!

  • Magic Eye for hipsters.

  • What are you guys talking about?

  • Mrak, you will shit bricks...

  • What is it I'm supposed to look at? That video? I got distracted by the sweet boom shots.

  • I was caught out too...

Look north for short short wearers worth shouting about ; )

  • Polo vid website y'all.

    http://www.321kill.com/about/

  • Aggregator?

  • Wowsers. They've even found the Sheffield one.

  • ha, not a single film i've made.

  • No taste clearly B Pie.

  • Thanks for the link guys. We still have a long way to go for getting ALL the polo videos into our system but we are working on it. We pull them in automatically every day but have only been doing so for a few months so we are clearly far behind.

If you have any suggestions on how to make the site better and more useful to you, please let us know. Also, send us links any videos that you want to see on the site. 321kill@nsbikepolo.com

You can vote for your faves and they will get ranked higher. We will begin running some cool contest soon based on Likes so the more love you give, the better chance your videos have of winning... something... in the near future :)

    max

  • Do you ask permission before you "pull them in automatically"?

  • They are just embedding vidoes from Youtube or Vimeo, not hosting them themselves. That's not any different to say this thread, so I don't think they need to ask?

  • They're looking to earn advertising revenue from content created by other people.

  • Oh yes, we are rolling in it! I am typing this on my gold plated keyboard while I watch the zeros being added to my bank balance. But seriously, yes, we would be lying if we said this was not a business venture. 321kill is a completely free and open website designed to provide entertainment for bike polo enthusiasts and to (hopefully) drive more people to our website. We have not subjected users to advertising nor are we pressing people to buy our products. We are simply doing what thousands of other websites do in a perfectly legal way (thanks John). I can understand if this can lead to the moral dilema you illustrated and appreciate that you brought this up.

Its fine if you want to piss on us. Trust me, I can take it. But please just keep in mind that at the end of the day, we are a small business... minuscule actually. We (me) are attempting to earn a living by making cool shit for bike polo. We are trying to do it in a cool, fun, interactive way.

  • I think its an awesome idea max, it's certainly distracting me from revising...!

  • I literally am not pissing on you.

I'm a fan of Northern Standard. I respect that business, but not this new side-venture-thing.

You are looking for advertisers on a website comprised of content created by others. However legal it might be (which I think you should research more than taking a sys-admin guy on a forum's word for it) I think it's unethical.

You posted your new site here, expect feedback.

  • Boys don't cry on Vimeo

has Bike polo remained funnier down under? Or is the footage just old?

  • Thanks Luca!

Snoops, I appreciate that you're a fan of our brand. That's really cool.

Technically I didn't post the link to the site here. That was someone else. I followed when the link generated a ping-back in my comments section. But it's pointless to start a debate online.

I know everyone likes to tease John but seriously I will look into the legal aspects and ensure my site is not breaking any rules. As for the ethics issue... I'll have to give that one a bit more thought.

  • has Bike polo remained funnier down under? Or is the footage just old?

    2010-2011.
But we have Jono now, and Danny :)

  • Don't bother sending a ransom note.

  • @NorthernStandard I like enterprising people who make stuff. Whether the output is a product, a video, or some photographs, it should be respected and not used by others for financial gain without consent.

Would you take WiganWill's photographs of polo and use them to advertise your product? I don't see your new site as much different to that example; it is the work of others being used to promote your product.

IMO you should request permission from these people who have worked hard to document their sport, they might be flattered! But the way it's being done right now is a bit naive and insensitive.

It might not seem like it but I really do like you guys, your brand and your products.

  • I think putting all the polo videos ever on there was a bad move too. It's like typing polo into Youtube, some are good, some are bad. A site which credited the best polo videos would be more interesting
