Finally managed to get some info from the police on the casualty's condition (it takes a long time for the information to filter through).
Don't think it's appropriate to give too many details on a forum, but it sounds like it wasn't as bad as it could have been. No life-changing injuries, and sounds like he'll make a full recovery. Hopefully he was home in time for Christmas...
