  • Remember that BMC NOS roadracer I paid for but was unsure if it'd ever turn up? Well, exciting news is it has arrived at my local Evans this morning so these bargain NOSs do exist. I just had a quick look, they still have a couple of roadracer and racemaster in various sizes, some are readily available and some will come in January. If you are after a road bike, it might be worth a look. I would advise paying for it through a credit card now even thought it might not come for another money so if it ends up not turning up, it's only virtual money that needed to be refunded. That is if you won't have to clear the bill till after Christmas like me. Don't bother with the "alert me" thing, they are not accurate and because of is I missed out on a even better bargain.

Can't wait till Sat to pick up my new baby!! :-D

  • great news

My SLX01 frameset was NOS. It was so cheap I prepared myself for an ex display with slight build up/take down markings. Came in a sealed box. I was super excited.

Except the sealing, and it being budgted as a Crimbo gift from Mrs Smallfurry meant I could'nt play with it.

Once you get out on it. Get it up to speed and throw it into some corners. You'll be grinning like a nutter.

Did you also get it recently through Evans?

  • Did you also get it recently through Evans?

Got mine from Austria of all places.

I had to look long and hard to find a frame that fitted both me, and my aspirations of ride quality.

I ride with a guy who has your model. We've both come to the conclusion that sharp cornering at speed is the best talent of the bike. Not the only one though.

    Enjoy!

  • Just bought a 2012 BMC RM01 with a force groupset, easton EA90 stem and ergonova bar for £1900 (already got the wheels and saddle). Was it a good deal?

  • is it new?

  • yep

  • then yes, that's a good deal

  • Great, was thinking if it was such a deal or not.

If I were to compare the RM01 to a Canyon, would it be in the same league as the CF or the CF SLX?

  • I don't think it really works that way - AFAIK the Canyon frames have completely different handling and characteristics to the BMC. For what it's worth 'Leagues' for bikes seem to be largely a marketing invention.

From what I've seen in person, the finish and quality of the work on BMC's is lovely, whereas the Ultimate CF's can look a little roughly made in the naked carbon finish. The BMC will be heavier than the CF SLX, but from the looks of the geometry it is stiffer and more responsive

  • BMC's made by machine, Canyon's not sure.

  • only the IMPEC after years of problems.

  • so...machine made is better?

  • yes, it would be if they figured out how to do it efficiently

  • It becomes self-aware at 12:00pm Eastern time, December 12th. In a panic, they try to pull the plug.

  • ^have some rep

  • Aren't all BMC fitted with an exploding seat cluster?

  • Went to pick up my BMC today, little did we know with the SRAM DoubleTap, it doesn't literally mean double tapping... we tried to push the lever twice at various different speeds and of course nothing happened... managed to work it out in the end, but it was embarrassing... isn't the name double tap a little confusing? But I have to say I already love this system more than the others.

Had to leave the bike in the shop as they didn't have any shorter stem to swap until probably Wed, so pictures to come later. I must also point out that someone from either Evans or BMC or both must be colour blind, because I ordered a bike in blue/grey, as shown on the website and every other bits of labels / receipts, but the bike turned out to to be silver/grey... boo...

  • Any thoughts appreciated on this:

Seems like quite a good dealio, no? This would be for my first road bike - requirements are that I can test ride and being within range of 0% finance would also be a major bonus....

One of the few test rideable bikes I've seen with tiagra, but not sure on overall value... Seem to have missed the majority of the sales as I take a 58 frame size.

    Thanks!

  • Are you based in London?

  • Yep!

  • Alu frame, carbon fork, Ultegra brakes/derailleurs for £1100
