There is nothing wrong with carbon rear rims, do you have any first hand experience? If you are whip skidding them into a pot hole you might be in trouble, however the usual street riding won't do them any harm. It would be down to the individual as to how harsh they are on their wheels as to whether it wold be a good idea or not. Even dropping them off curbs shouldn't do them any harm, they advise against it for obvious reasons though.
EDIT: as a reference do you remember the Martyn Ashton video, he was really abusing those carbon wheels.
ZzzzZZZzzzzzzz......thats why i said they would be ok in a country that has lovely smooth roads not like uk,the roads where im from are like the surface of the moon.
if i was riding to a coffee shop to browse on my mac or to buy a new outfit like you would prob be doing with your 'normal' riding prob with a brake they would be fine BUT if your riding it like you stole it with regular whip skids and skips which is my normal riding then it wouldnt inspire confidence which when i build a bike is what its all about, i like parts i can 100% rely on. i would much rather my rear wheel bent or came out of true then it folding on itself.i like carbon wheels but they stay on the front of my fixed or on my road bike.
and Martyn Ashton was using a wheelset that isnt a full carbon clincher, its a alu rim with a carbon fairing like some 'carbon clinchers' i.e mavic or planet-X or some older zipps.
