It's revealing that in the promotional video the spokesperson points out that cyclists might be intimidated by the speed of the motor traffic - as if that is unalterable. Again, the source of the danger, and the disincentive to cycling, is left untreated.
thats because 9/10ths of the good folks designing/ seeking approval/sending these schemes to scrutiny boards/ risk inspection/ dont cycle and even less of the good folks giving final approval EVER cycle.The only thing to do is to consistently offer to show them around on bikes- to educate them what daily cycling road use feels like.
