  • no fork drilling so I will have a play with the toe in and straddle length, managed the 20 mile in and out of work today without any judder at all so it might not be too much of a problem if it's only every once and a while.

Spotter, let me know if you are back over christmas if you want a go

I think I need to drop the gearing down a bit, it's fine for the commuting but I think off road I need somethin spinnier or a new pair of legs. I think I have a 110bcd triple in the shed somewhere, it probably has a 36/34 middle ring on it

  • Or get an mtb gearing on it, it 11-32.

  • http://www.sjscycles.co.uk/shimano-6400-7-speed-uniglide-cassette-prod20077/ sjs do a uniglide with 13-32 but I'm not sure how much life the rear hub has left in it.
I'm not sure if it's worth investing in another uniglide cassette if the hub dies, I'm pretty sure the rear mech can also run 8 speed so if the rear wheel does die I will probably look for an 8 speed rear to replace it.

  • I forget it's 7 speeds, fair enough, making your triple into a double sound like a great solution, and it being 110bcd, you should be able to get some cheap chainring easily, says, 48/34.

Another idea is to convert the big ring into a bashguard by trimming off the teeth.

  • went for my first proper off road adventure on the weekend.
It was on a 36t instead of 39t chainring but I found it really tough going so I've dropped it down to a 34t.

Noticed the back of the fork has started to chip, I'm hoping this is from something jumping up and gettinng stuck and not from the fork juddering about?

I'm glad I had canti's for clearance but for actually stopping they were hard work at times, I might upgrade the pads to see if it helps
