  • Received my Softshell a couple of days ago and, as much as I love it, I think it's too warm. I'd love to keep it, but I'm not sure it'll get enough use and the pro team will be much more useful.

  • Yep, it was cracking today- kept me at a constant temp regardless of weather and effort level.

In other news, I washed a load of Rapha stuff this afternoon, with a red jacket.

    Guess what happened.

    Oh god no!!

  • At least it will be ready for the Giro kit launch.

Having said that, and back to Team Sky kit, the real cash cow for Rapha will be if (and when) a rider takes the yellow jersey.. I know Le Coq Sportif will make the official jersey but can you imagine the host of yellow branded stuff they will make (replica jersey etc)..

  • oh god.....

  • The evans and rapha tie up makes more sense now:

Since joining Active Nick has sourced and led the purchase of a majority stake in FW Evans Cycles Ltd (http://www.evanscycles.com/) where he is Chairman. He is also Chairman at Leon Restaurants Ltd (www.leonrestaurants.co.uk) and Rapha Racing Ltd (www.rapha.cc) and Non-Executive Director at Finisterre (www.finisterreuk.com).

  • Whilst digging into this^

I saw this job ad. Could plausibly be of interest to some of the IT crowd on here.

Head of IT job add, mandating a platform in the job spec. HARD FAIL.

  • I might grab a Winter Collar. It'll go so well with my CBNC stuff.

    Merino is so snuggly.

  • Oh & is there a cycling etiquette for when you pass a guy on a Brompton wearing a Rapha Backpack?

  • Sign of the Merckx

  • That deserves its own thread! Got to be the dream job for some on here.

  • What's the PTJ? I don't know the acronym.

And that job could be good, the office is very nice and I do like all of the people I know who work for Rapha... I guess the question is really whether you are a leader or not, and if you are, how much are you going to be able to take the IT forward... not just in sales & marketing (very important) but also in terms of product development lifecycle, supply chain management and even basic stock control and accounting.

The overwhelming thing I'm finding from having worked on my own ventures this past year or so is that I no longer am willing to settle, to accept. I think Rapha, whilst no longer a small startup, deserve to have that kind of thinking... to transform the business as it grows to one that can be truly multi-national and deal with several markets at once and a significant rise in revenue.

I didn't get a sense of that kind of vision in the advert, it seemed more: We have an idea of a role, it's a basic management team position.

As such, for those qualified on here... I'm not sure how attractive that would be. Well... it might be perfect, I guess the real question is what are those people doing today, for if that is sub-par this could be a dream.

  • ^ apply stating as such. small companies more likely to let you shape the job.

  • Pro Team Jacket

Hoping it all came out "Rapha pink" for you...

I am a massive fan of the PTJ.

Rapha are at that critical point transformation between being medium and large... they are no longer small.

That said, I have my own thing going... Microcosm. And I suspect a lot of LFGSS members would want to crucify me if I applied for any jobs... a lot of forumengers are my investors.

And deeply personally... Microcosm is my world. I wouldn't want to stop unless it failed, and I don't intend for it to fail.

That Pro Team Jacket does look nice.

    If it's me, say hello.

  • Harrison Ford

    John Candy

That job has been around for months on the work at rapha page on their site. Surprised it has re surfaced on linked in i thought it had been filled already.

  • I'm guessing the salary is crap

  • Staff Discount?

  • I'm guessing the salary is crap

    Staff Discount?

Salary supplementation might explain the ebay users who seem to have a LOT of brand new Rapha to sell (although I can imagine Rapha would be reasonably competitive with their salaries.)

  • I somewhat doubt he's allowed to, unless he doesn't work for Rapha anymore.

  • I somewhat doubt he's allowed to, unless he doesn't work for Rapha anymore.

Pure speculation on my part, but I tend to agree. I can't see any high end brand condoling sales of their products at discounted prices, be that on eBay or elsewhere.

    Merino is so snuggly.

I've been using one for the last month and they work really really well... I couldn't think of riding another winter without one... I think they're worth the money.
