Highly recommended ride, I'll probably be there.

I think I might do this, if I get the bike finished in time - just got to put the new crankset on, trim the brake cables and tape the bars.

So close to home, it'd be rude not to.

I'm packed up and ready to go for the morning. This will be my first ride (i.e. not commuting) since last summer. Went out for 15 miles today to see if I remembered how to do it. Seems what they say is true - you do never forget how to ride a bike.
I'll be the one looking like an amateur, yellow, black and white Raleigh with downtube shifters and a bar bag. Come say hello, it'd be nice to meet some forumengers.

A big thank you to the 165 cyclists who turned up today to ride the West Kent RC Reliability Trial.
Unfortunately a few went adrift on the short route and ended up going down Riverhill, but then had the pleasure of coming back up Carters Hill. If this was you, Chapeau. We'll have a look what we can do to improve for next year. If you rode this, we would welcome your feedback.
Thanks again.

Late again & last man off I rode the short route on 47 x 18, well organised ride by West Kent RC.
For anyone that missed it same time & place next Sunday for the Bexley CC event :)

A nice ride today. Although I failed miserably at the 'reliability' bit and somehow missed the second and third controls. A big thank you to all those that organised this and I'm definitely up for a rematch next week.

Steve, is the Bexley Reliability the one that goes up Gangers?

Not sure on their route, last time I rode it, it went up Exedown but they might alternate the direction so it could.

Another +1 for this. Predicted 3:30 and came in at 3:45 with one puncture stop on the way.
Only little criticism was the route signposted was not the route shown on the website and thus on my Garmin. Minor detail though and a great morning out.

Hi Colin (wvm). I was with you at the point you noticed the Garmin (or the route map) was wrong. Shortly after that your mate told me that we were on the long route. That's right, I had gone the wrong way at the switch - just followed the crowd I was following - and by the time I found out I was all the way out. I only had enough time, food and energy with me to do the 30. Anyway, had no choice to knuckle down to do it, until one of the marshals kindly offered me a sandwich and a ride home - I was cramping up in both legs, what can I say?
So, a bit annoyed with myself to say the least. Not an auspicious start to my year. Would have been much better to complete the 30 than only do three quarters of the 60. I suppose the Christmas pud is well and truly worked off. Other good news is that the bike had no failures or problems on its first run out.
Anyhow, nice to meet you.

I too was following the map from the website on my Garmin. I think this was why I missed the two controls. Anyhow, as wvm said, a great morning out.

I should say that mine is a +1 as well. It was my fault I went the wrong way.
Time to start burning off that Christmas Pudding, and to help you, the West Kent Road Club are holding their annual reliability trial, and at the same time raising funds for two charities, the Kent Air Ambulance and the Dave Rayner Fund.
This event kicks off the 2013 reliability trial and sportive season in the South East and is always well supported by local club and sportive riders alike. You can choose between two routes; 30 and 50 miles around some of the best countryside the North Downs has to offer.
Entry is just £5 on the line. First riders off at around 09.00Hrs. Last riders off around 09.30Hrs. The route is fully signposted and marshalled at key points.
Hot and Cold drinks & cakes, sandwiches etc available from the Hall. Certificates available for those successfully completing event in their target time.
