Hi Colin (wvm). I was with you at the point you noticed the Garmin (or the route map) was wrong. Shortly after that your mate told me that we were on the long route. That's right, I had gone the wrong way at the switch - just followed the crowd I was following - and by the time I found out I was all the way out. I only had enough time, food and energy with me to do the 30. Anyway, had no choice to knuckle down to do it, until one of the marshals kindly offered me a sandwich and a ride home - I was cramping up in both legs, what can I say?
So, a bit annoyed with myself to say the least. Not an auspicious start to my year. Would have been much better to complete the 30 than only do three quarters of the 60. I suppose the Christmas pud is well and truly worked off. Other good news is that the bike had no failures or problems on its first run out.

Anyhow, nice to meet you.
