Been what feels like an age coming, but now I have just taken delivery of a new frame from Mr Jackson (the build is so-called as my Uncle Bob, now sadly departed, was a massively good egg and is coincidently shares the surname...)
It was always my first attempt at the foolish classic newbie idea to make a bike that will do everything - though realistically it will be a vintagey looking (though with far too many anachronisms to call it purely vintage) non weight weenie steed that will get me to and from work, be a little bit bomb resistant, and hopefully one day join me on at least one cycle holiday. Out of London.
Oh, and I'm doing the pussy-ish 75k route to (and from) Roubaix in April so will initially build it with 28's and mudguards, though hopefully when these come off it won't look too tourery.
I don't doubt the whole black/gold/British steel thing has been done to death, though this one's all mine :)
Anyway, about those anachronisms (largest first, I guess)
135mm rear OLD for an Alfine hub that I have waiting for it.
S&S Couplers
Internal brake routing (and will have aero bars)
Cyclocross levers on the top tube
Some other gimmicky bits
That rear light bit that some trendy Rene Hearse types have for a rear light on the seat tube
Curvy rear seat stays (spent too long looking at Hetchins on Google images)
Arrowhead lugs
Most of the stuff is already sitting at home (and no doubt soon up for sale as it's wrong size/colour/side of whatever mood I'm in), tho will do a build photo before I try to put it all together...
