  • picked this little beauty up today ready to make into a first Fixie build

iv been collecting parts for a few weeks now but still a way to go
i picked up a set of fuji track wheels and a chain today

already got bars just not sure wether to have a front brake or not

im gonna build it first and ride it a little then make it pretty as it will be my first fixie

here it is upto today and im well pleased

does anyone know anything about the frame ????

  • That frame is very, very nice! Love the colour! Good start.

  • I had one of these converted to SS that i rode round london one winter- Great little hack bike. The frame wasnt branded tubing, but it definately wasn't gaspipe as it was reasonably light. Good clearances if you want to fit chunky tyres - I had 30c cross tyres + mudguards.

  • Looks great..

yes im really eager to ride it. just waiting to get a seat tube. Size ????
    measures 24-5mm maybe
bars are fitted now not sure weather the bottom bracket will line up with the new chainset, got my eye on a cheapie from ebay to get me going..

currently the chain is lay over the small ring and seems to line up perfect but not sure if it will once the new one is fitted. what length should the bottom bracket be ?? guessing 110mm
what will it be like to ride without a brake?? will it be a little dodgy or will leg breaking be suffecient to stop me .. suburbs riding with no major hills to contend with.

just need a couple of pieces to the puzzle and im away..

PS frame weighs around the 9lb mark with forks and chainset fitted.

  • put a brake on it to start with definitely

  • why do you say that.. is it really needed. ??

i have already got the front brake, just didnt want to fit it

  • If your not sure if you will need it or not. Better go for the safer option!!

  • yea your probably right .. and see if i can ride without using it..

no reason to risk my life.. not even ridden a fixie off the track so il give you that..

does anyone know the answer to my earlier question regarding BB axle length for a single speed ??

  • been busy today adding the chain bars and brake lever
stripped down the bottom bracket to regrease ans service it wrong chainset on at minute at 42 teeth small ring but it will give me an idea of the gearing

getting the seatpost i need from a good mate tomorrow then i should be able to take it for a spin up the street

    coming together now

  • Looking good! I will dig out the seatpost, and also have a front brake caliper you can borrow, just till you find your feet ;)

    See you tomorrow,

    Matt

  • shall i just set up a direct debit !!!!! ;)

  • well here she is rideable and couldnt resist a little spin on her,

definately need a brake, and a bigger front gear 42 isnt doing it for me,
il keep the 15 rear on and buy either a 44 or a 46 front and see how that goes.
i have fitted the front brake lever but need a longer reach front caliper

  • Looking good mistah! I have dug out the original caliper and put it to 'one side'. We will have a brake that will fit somewhere in the stores.

I cannot believe you painted the floor to go with the red scheme.

    Matt

  • floor needs another coat i think. see you in the man cave soon lol
