  • sucks about the dents :-(

  • Yeah, it's really put me off. Any chance of some unboxing photos of the London frames to see what the packaging is like?

  • I'd guess future orders will be packed better after we tell them, if you're really worried geta normal headset, the tube is a fair bit thicker. I reckon once it's bent back and the bearings are in it'll be fine, but an obvious irritation.

  • ottor is right...
    what about london order?

  • ...what the packaging is like?

Dropouts are spaced with a piece of wood. Each frame is wrapped in cling film, with two layers of corrugated card folded around extremities: headtube, bottom bracket shell, dropouts. These are then taped together with a further sheet of card between each frame. The outer box was a bit battered.

  • to be honest that doesn't even sound like shoddy packaging. Ive seen much worse. Blame the courier

  • More than likely this, although I doubt it'll hurt them to stick a bit more around the top of the headtube.

  • Do you guys think it has something to do with the bulk order? As in he's tried to pack too many bikes in 1 box? This has put me off a little from ordering. Are you guys gonna take the matter to your own hands or are you gonna see if Robert is willing to do anything?

  • I don´t think that it has to do with the bulk order.
My frame, single order, was also packed like shit, but i´m a lucky guy...
And i think, that this won´t happen again, if Robert sees the shit!

  • Hmmm the packaging thing certainly kinda makes me think going Dolan might be the safer option. Will need to see how the new prices compare to a PreCursa or FXE. Resale on Dolans seems pretty good, dunno if these Mielecs would fetch so much used.

  • Dunno about that, pretty much any old thing with track ends is automatically worth at least £80 on ebay, though if 30 mielecs all end up on ebay at the same time maybe not so much.

  • I'm just thinking, I only have one bike, a Fuji track, which I was going to replace with the Mielec, but all I'd need for two builds out of my parts bin is another crank set (which I'm considering upgrading anyway) and a wheelset. Maybe I could keep the Fuji at my mum's in Cambridgeshire and set it up for some nice long rides and have the Mielec as an about town HHSB, rarely doing more than 10 or so miles at a time, which is the current role of the Fuji....

  • ^csb

  • Thanks! (Need to stop posting on here drunk)

  • So, how many have actually arrived?

  • This thread inspired me (a long time lurker) to order a Mielec frame as well. It is a Mash copy size "S" with red metallic colour.

That colour seems quite awesome, do you remember whats the RAL code for it?

  • Nope. There were just 5 metalic colours to choose from. Blue, silver, red, gold and graphite. Nearly went for gold ...

  • Ah okay, I'm also thinking between that red or graphite...

  • graphite looks awesome...

  • hmmm it looks too much like a leader with that color

  • Dudes sorry for non posts, as explained up thread I have been away.
I'll say this again so that anyone who cannot be arsed to read it knows:
The warehouse closed its doors for Christmas an NY on the 21st at 18:30 and I was there up until that time.
It will be open again on the 2nd Jan.

When the bulk London order arrives I will personally unload and check all boxes for damage. If there is any noted, the paperwork will be marked accordingly.

I'm not really keen on opening all of the packages (happy to photograph the process for one or two), as I work in a live warehouse where there is lots of activity and I don't want to get the blame for damaging frames if I have opened the boxes. Don't get me wrong, my guys and myself are all pretty passionate about bikes, and I've been telling them about this incoming consignment for a while and they are nearly as excited about it as I am. Rest assured that we will take very good care of them when they finally land with us.

Also, I wouldn't be too quick to blame couriers for damage. It's likely that these boxes have been handled by 3 or 4 depots as well as a number of drivers before they even got to the guy who delivered to you. A transit claim with the manufacturer would be difficult. I would definitely get a collection of photos together (including ones from the London consignment if we are unfortunate enough to have problems) and send them to Robert in a reasonable email and maybe ask for a discount, or some other form of recompense?
Or just fix them I guess.

  • good deal at planet x for your bling bits at the moment guys, 15% off bars, stems saddles and seatposts, just got a thomson stem for £35 :)
    put "UKSSS15" at the checkout

  • what Sweaty said, as mentioned lets just find out if there will be any more damages and the scale of them, and then I am hapy to address it with Robert.

  • nice one sweaty + archangels :-)
