Yeah, those first wheels are junk, but work for my commute. They're heavy, and look like crap, but give me an impression of what black rims/hubs look like on the bike.
The real question is silver or black and low profile or deep rims.
I love the Records, but I'm not sure they suit such a late 90s paint job, I think black/graphite would look better.
