hmmn. now i don't know about you but i don't like to ride at "15 piles per hour"... ouch.

  • he'd go further if he had gears. or even a bigger gear.

According to this, flying is better than a hybrid car or a motorcyle......

You get quite a few more people in a plane than in a car... 2 in the front and 173 in the back, vs, 2 in the front and 3 in the back :)

How does the caloritic conversion work?

  • also, is "piles per hour" a typo or something I don't know about?

  • Should be pies per hour for me.

Er yeah, well we all knew that.....but haven't we been told that flying is the worst method of transport...according to above it's not, especially if you drive more miles per year then fly...!?!?!?!...

confused of Stokey....(wants to go to the Bahamas)

  • There are apparently other factors to consider with flying. Off the top of my head: greenhouse gases are injected straight into the upper atmosphere, and contrails have a net warming effect (however I've never really understood the difference between a contrail and a cloud - anyone?).

Ha ha yes of course... but you don't fly to the shops do you... you normally do a shed load of miles! 6000 round trip to east coast america for example, is more than I do on my bike in a year :)

  • And you then have to get another form of transport form the airport to where the airport says it is.

  • The point about flying is that it's so cheap it encourages people to consider Thailand and Oz are OK destinations for a few days off. If you MUST get to these places, the plane pretty much beats everything on mpg... but the idea is that sooner or later we are going to have to wean ourselves off these habits. Plus of course all that atmosphere stuff.

Me: 1 cycle. 2 train or bus. 3 car if 1 and 2 can't do it. I haven't been on a plane for about 4 years.

Nice graphic. Wish they'd use some food standard that was a bit more useful than burgers though. I spose a burger is a burger is a burger wherever you go. Nice sandwich with a bit of this and a bit of that is a variable sort of thing.

Plenty of people drive a lot more than 6000 miles a year.....

  • (^bump)

  • Well who knew? I'd have thought your croc would live a little longer than that.

  • According to Wikipedia, a 'saltie' will live for about 70 years (with one captive individual still alive and kicking at 130).

  • I was right!!!!
