I believe this is the only photograph of Eileen Sheridan where she is not smiling.

Frank Southall (back to camera, holding coat), a great rider, but perhaps not quite so great as a manager, has just told Eileen that her that her record breaking Land's End to London ride has been disallowed on the grounds that there was pre-publicity, or to put it another way, she's just ridden 250 hard miles for nothing.

All other pictures of her show her wonderful smile - which she could maintain under extremely arduous conditions, for example riding the last few miles to John O' Groats into a head wind.

As Hippy shows, it is almost impossible to meet her without falling under her spell.

Yup she is something special and I can't think of a pic with her NOT smiling in some particularly hideous weather ...
I like the idea of the famous Hippy telling his grandchildren about the famous Eileen!
