I've been well impressed with Crud Road Racer Mk II if you have a narrow tyred road bike. They fit easily and well, and require next to no frame clearance.

Replying to my own post - must be losing it!
Just a reminder that on a fixie, a rear mudguard that wraps around the back of the wheel (like the Crud Roadracer) is a complete pain, as it prevents you from removing the rear wheel out of the horizontal dropouts. You're better off with one of the blade-style mudguards that sits above the wheel.

I have the crud road racers and they required me to flip the arms the wrong way round to stop the chirping noise on anything but fresh tarmac.
