I did a big one last year - 150 miles of running, MTB and kayaking through snowdonia in three days. I had a lot of fun going though all the great scenery and riding some trail centres, plus they added in a bit of canyoning, which was a laugh. It was my first adventure race and I hadn't done any running for 10 years beforehand so overtrained and buggered one of my knees a bit. Still came 12th out of 20 though. There's an ok forum called sleepmonsters and the race I did was put on by endurancelife, who also do some shorter ones around the country.

ahh yeah, sleepmonsters looks cool. Will check it out.
150 miles ?! as your first one ? Seems pretty excessive.

Im into mountain marathons more and compete throughout winter in foot/bike orienteering. Theres loads of good grassroots stuff out there.
Theres quite a bit of urban stuff going on like 'ratraces' now,as well as your mixed discipline events,a lot of it is corporate stuff though which Im not into, tons of kit, expensive entries fees and weekend warriors in their flash cars getting out of cities. -

I may be interested. Let me just check some things/ dates/ do a practice one first.
Seems like a good way to spend a day.
Could I use a CX bike instead of MTB or is it a technical course? -

should be alright, its not a technical challenge, its a speed/time/ route planning challenge.
im just emailing james thurlow to get the gen.
Hey,
Not really fixed related, but does have cycling (MTB).
Anyone here do AR ? Was thinking of giving it a spin, but doesn't seem very common over here in the UK. Was ideally looking for someone else who might be interested in it!
