The path that is slavery is not for everyone.

carbon fibre is prone to flexing, in fact it is designed to.
Go and have a look at a carbon fibre fishing rod
so the answer is no -

What happens if you hit a (big) pothole with your wheel sideways whilst skidding at a 90 degree angle?

Nah they really are, like everything they can fail on impact but they haven't failed me.
If I was going to worry about anything it would be the hubs developing play as that was the original myth surrounding aerospokes but doesn't look like there are many (if any) documented accounts of that actually happening with the newer ones. -

'fine' except for the fact you have an aerojoke and ride brakleses.
My friend, those two points make you far from 'fine'. Seek help.

Mentioning carbon fibre and aerospokes in the same breath LOL

Aerospokes are individually hand carved from the core of a neutron star.

This.
Aerospokes aren't carbon like Zipp's and Hed 3's.

and don't try riding up a steep hill doing a standing climb as they will fold up due to their flexy nature. The hills around my way are scattered with remains of bent carbon rims.

Aerospokes won't, they aren't carbon.

What sort of feckup cyclist would try and cycle up a hill with carbon rims?

Balls Cav cycled into a pot hole the exact size and shape of the bottom 1/3 of his wheel. The spokes still look tensioned.

[Rant] Why do hipsters think they are especially hard on their equipment because they do the odd skid? Never seen a pro sprinter, DH race, dirt jumping etc.? [/Rant]
i've seen quite a lot of people with aerospokes or trispokes as their rearwheel and i can't help but wonder if that's a dumb idea or not. i mean carbon is prone to flexing isnt it? wouldn't these people risk destroying their expensive wheels with each whipskid?
