I guess you could have a tiny battery in the rear mech. charged via an induction system. Using small spoke magnet in line with a magnet on the lower pulley of the mech when in lower 1 or 2 gears.
Maybe a similar arrangment using the motion of the cranks could give power to the front.
Thats if anyone new how magnets work.
