  • I received a BHBPA account statement today. Only Hyper has paid for his head. Shame on all of you freeloading mofos. PAY YOUR MONEY.

In happier news, they've seen sense and changed their internet banking password bullshit system so maybe I'll be able to keep closer tabs on just how much we are being fleeced from within in the future.

  • Yeah, we were pretty unclear on how much we owe..

but I checked with hyper last night.

If you had a white HDPE Magic head you owe £6. If you then want a green one it's a further £10.40.

Dan can you PM me the bank details please. sort code, account no. and name.

  • The response from Focale after I destroyed their bike in one polo outing. Fun read.

    Hello Lucas,

I am sorry for all the troubles you've met on your bike. We did not receive other feedback about that bike. 2 reasons for that. These bikes have been produced in summer 2010. And we only made 32 of those bikes for the whole world. In short : not a succesful bike. Focale 44 is not "polo enough" to be seen as a potential polo bike supplier. We gave up that kind of bike.

I don't have many advices to give you to fix your bike. If chainring is bent, better replacing it. If front rim buckled, better check the spoke tension before the firt polo game (but that's too late now). I'm surprised by what you say about the chain. we use standard chains on our bikes.

    Sorry again.
    Marc-Etienne Dalgé, Focale 44

  • I just ordered a Hija De La Coneja frame and fork. Figure I can salvage the bits off the franken bike.

  • Good luck getting that before you move to Oz.....

  • Hilarious response from lilly-livered Frenchies. I'd take the opportunity to remind them of their responsibilities under distance selling regulations, standard manufacturer warranty and point out that, despite their use of "quotes", they've pretty much accepted that it's not fit for purpose.

My (limited) understanding is that if it's less than 30 days old, you can pretty much return it for any reason whatsoever and get your money back.

"if wheels are bent, buy new ones" is particularly galling. 'How about you buy them for me, because you've basically sold me snake oil'.

OH Lucas, can I buy/have the broken frame and fork off you?

2Squeak was going to take a shot at repairing, but let chat on Sunday

I had to post as I was shocked at the email, but I am formulating a response along he lines that you note above.

  • I'll drop by Sunday..hell i may even put my polo bike in the boot..

Bring the frame if possible Lucas, if the Tig brazing rods I bought are not up to scratch then I can always take it to work.

  • Do I need to take the BB out?

  • aye =)

  • Looks like tomorrow may be a good day to take on the moss. Are BHBPA people cook with me spending a tenner of our money on moss killer?

Does anyone have a stiff rake/scrapery thing to scrape of the killed moss?

  • good idea Dan, It would be better to scrape it the following week though I think... It will take a while for the killer to work properly

  • @lucasr...repaired the rear triangle without getting filler in the BB, seat tube needs reinforcing though...

the amount of braze equals the gaps between tubes..shocking..
