Get the surgery done. Way better than waiting around for it to possibly heal up naturally.

Ooff, your body is a mess already after polo dude.

• #12931
Jimmy you are not playing! I'm benching you for that game! Unless the doc signs you off I don't think it's a good idea buddy. I would feel so guilty if it got worse. *cough*doughmamacough It's your left hand? Geez I'm so glad you got it seen to last night.

Me too.
This morning I woke in A LOT more pain. Last night I rode home with it in a splint no worries though... Keeping thumb flat along bar...
It's probably stupid. I dunno. Getting bus into work today to try and limit the blood flow and pain. We'll see how it feels tomorrow, cus I hate getting the bus. I hate missing out on polo even more.

oh dear jimmy. Words of advice, never listen to me, that twice now i've given bad advice. #irony
I diagnosed jacksandwich as "fine" after he broke his wrist. And last night Jimmy telling me "it feels weird" just wasn't good enough for a hospital visit in my mind. God help my kids if i ever get them. -
• #12937
oh no, get better soon, Jimmy.
-
• #12938
never listen to me
Heh.
"Jimmy, there'll be absolutely nothing they can do for you if you go to hospital" -
• #12939
It's odd, it didnt seem like you fell that heavy or anything, I'm surprised with what's happened. Just a bad roll of the dice. I hope it heals up for you quickly.

Super active, I'm unemployed! Just played in a wicked tourney (38°) at the weekend, and my house is less than 1km away from the Tuesday courts. Too easy.
Good craic out here. Yet to establish the full extent of the polotics however.
LPC > MBP still, obvs. -

Sometimes in the heat of the moment, you get that 'red mist' coming down on you - you turn into a different man. An animal. Wild, untamed. Beyond humanity. Memory becomes blurred, a dream. And when it dissipates, there is no true recollection of events, only a whining, injured Jimmy. Asking, "why Dave, why?"

Dave strikes again!
super glad I went to the hospital. Sooner it's done the better chance of recovery without months of physio.
So yeah, it's super rare in the thumb, and how I did it 'falling off my bike' total mystery to the hand trauma nurse at St Thomas'. I have 'Mallet Thumb' and have broken two extender tendons on the tip of my thumb. They have to go in there and stitch them up most likely, as opposable digits don't heal as good as fingers. But I'll hear more after a scan and talk with specialist next Monday, when they could either do surgery or book me for surgery. In the meantime I'm keeping it in a splint. I can probably get away with still playing.
It couldn't really have been avoided by extra safety equipment it was just incredibly unlucky. I'm pleased I listened to my body saying "why isn't there a lot of pain considering you can't move it?" and I'm also pleased it's my left hand.
